In Texas, Houston based HyOrc Corporation has signed an agreement with Portugal’s Start Lda to develop a 25,000 ton per year green methanol plant in Porto, with projected lifetime revenues of $390 million.
The facility will use HyOrc’s proprietary RDF gasification and methanol synthesis technology, converting waste into low-carbon fuel for marine and industrial use. This follows a similar deal in Scunthorpe, UK, where HyOrc is developing a 13,000 ton per year plant with Acetech Metals. Combined, the projects will deliver more than 38,000 tons of green methanol annually.
“Our Porto agreement marks a significant milestone in HyOrc’s European growth strategy,” said Andrea Magalini, Director of Business Development. “We are systematically identifying the right locations to anchor a scalable supply chain for green fuels that can serve maritime, industrial, and transport applications for decades to come.”
By locating near ports, HyOrc intends to streamline delivery to key users while anchoring its European strategy in logistics efficiency and waste valorization. Both facilities will target compliance with tightening EU emissions standards and the growing fuel needs of the shipping industry.
