In India, ChiniMandi reported that the Visakh Refinery of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has inaugurated the demonstration plant of SAF. The facility will produce SAF through the co-processing of used cooking oil (UCO) in the refinery’s Full Conversion Hydrocracker Unit, leveraging existing refinery infrastructure.
With this move, India has taken another step towards meeting its SAF blending targets of 1% by 2027, 2% by 2028 and 5% by 2030, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said.
Visakh Refinery will produce approximately 10 TMT per annum of SAF from January 2027, the report added.
