In Japan, Green Science Alliance has made 3D-printed furniture using a plant-based and biodegradable polylactic acid resin it developed in house. The company has 3D printed several items using the material, including a table, bench, shelf, lamp shade, lightning cover, flower pot and floor. “Theoretically, [we] can make any kind of furniture and objects with [our] plant based biomass resin with 3D printer,” the company said in a press statement.
Green Science Alliance also set up the small exhibition space in Tokyo to display the items and showcase the potential for biomass-based, 3D printed furniture and products. The company hopes to add its plant-based paint to complete the display.
