Godavari Biorefineries licenses Catalyxx technology for India

December 15, 2024 |

In Missouri, Catalyxx and Godavari Biorefineries Limited signed a strategic international license agreement. This partnership grants GBL exclusive rights in India to leverage Catalyxx’s proprietary technology for the conversion of ethanol into up to 30,000 metric tons of biobutanol and other higher alcohols.

In the first phase, Godavari Biorefineries will construct and operate a state-of-the-art facility designed to produce 15,000 metric tons of biobutanol and higher alcohols annually, a significant step forward in the company’s commitment to decarbonization and sustainability.

Godavari Biorefineries’ upcoming biobutanol plant, part of this partnership, will not only establish a benchmark for the industry but also contribute to the global green transition by offering innovative, renewable chemical solutions made from sustainable resources.

This agreement builds on Catalyxx’s recent success with the launch of its own first-of-a-kind industrial-scale project (FOAK) in Europe in collaboration with Technip Energies and supported by the European Comission’s EIC Accelerator Program, which granted Catalyxx with €9.5 million funding. This project demonstrated the scalability of Catalyxx’s technology and set a new benchmark for sustainable chemical production.

“This agreement is the culmination of years of rigorous development and innovation, reflecting our unwavering commitment to advancing sustainable chemistry,” said Joaquín Alarcón, CEO of Catalyxx. “This strategic partnership with Godavari Biorefineries, a company with an exceptional track record in sustainability, demonstrates the global recognition of our technology’s impact and sets the foundation for the next phase of Catalyxx’s growth. Together, we are pioneering a more sustainable future for the chemical industry.”

“This partnership with Catalyxx reflects our commitment to advancing sustainable chemistry and underscores our leadership in the bio-chemicals sector,” said Samir Somaiya, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Godavari Biorefineries. “We are excited to embark on this journey and look forward to the positive impact this project will have on our business, the environment, and the communities we serve.”
