In the UK, Fuel Cells Works reported that Germany and the Czech Republic have formed a new bilateral working group aimed at deepening cross-border hydrogen collaboration, with a particular focus on the Czech-German Hydrogen Interconnector (CGHI) project.
Announced by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economics, the group includes ministers from both countries, their national regulators, and major gas network operators GASCADE, Open Grid Europe, NaTran, and NET4GAS. Its purpose is to fast-track joint planning, regulatory alignment, and technical feasibility assessments of shared hydrogen infrastructure, according to the report.
The CGHI initiative seeks to repurpose existing natural gas pipelines for bidirectional hydrogen transport, effectively linking the future Czech and German national hydrogen grids. Once complete, the CGHI would enhance Germany’s internal hydrogen core network while allowing for future hydrogen exports to the Czech Republic, it added.
