In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that the city of Gdansk, in Poland, officially launched its Port Czystej Energii, a waste-to-energy plant equipped with a 62.7 MW boiler securing the safe conversion of waste into electricity and heat.
The total cost of the project was $ 207 million, according to the report. According to its technical parameters, the plant has an installed electrical capacity of 16 MWe and thermal power of 44 MWt.
Port Czystej Energii will thermally process 160,000 tons of non-recyclable municipal waste, producing 114,000 MWh of electricity and 509,000 GJ of heat. This output will be enough to meet street lighting needs in Gdańsk for over 6 years and the heat demand of 70,000 households in summer and 19,000 households in winter, the report added.
