GAZ-SYSTEM awarded EU funding for Pomeranian Green Hydrogen Cluster project

November 14, 2024 |

In Poland, Gaz-System said that The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) granted EU financial support to the Pomeranian Green Hydrogen Cluster project under the ”CEF Cross-border Renewable Energy” instrument. The Pomeranian Green Hydrogen Cluster project aims to analyze the potential for green hydrogen generation in the West Pomeranian region where Sevivon plans to build wind and solar farms for the needs of renewable hydrogen production which can be further supplied via hydrogen transmission networks to end users both in Poland and Germany. For this purpose, GAZ-SYSTEM established cooperation with PNE AG, its subsidiary Sevivon and a German transmission system operator GASCADE Gastransport to analyze the potential for the development of hydrogen infrastructure in North-West Poland and North-East Germany. Under the “CEF ENERGY” program, the European Commission launched a new category of cross-border projects in renewable energy eligible for co-financing under the recently established EU instrument (CEF Cross-border Renewable Energy Program). GAZ-SYSTEM is currently conducting its individual market screening project – Hydrogen Map of Poland with the view to assessing the interest in hydrogen transport through the transmission network connecting domestic hydrogen producers, import sources, hydrogen storage facilities, end consumers, and local distribution networks.
