In Norway, Offshore Energy reports Norwegian green hydrogen and ammonia company Fuella signed an agreement with the Port of Pecém to invest $1.5 billion in developing a project to produce 400,000 tons of green ammonia annually in Pecém, in the State of Ceará, Brazil.
Fuella noted that Ceará is an ideal location for producing green hydrogen and ammonia due to its abundant wind, solar, and hydropower resources. Thorsten Helms, Managing Director of Business & Corporate Development at Fuella said, ”We are very happy and proud to be able to secure this project in the Port of Pecém. This is one of the best locations in the world for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia.”
The Port of Rotterdam, a partner of Pecém, will contribute its export infrastructure and industrial synergies. This marks Fuella’s second green ammonia venture in Brazil, following an earlier project at Porto do Açu in Rio de Janeiro, where Fuella partnered to develop a green ammonia facility with an output of up to 520 MW.
