In France, Reuters reports Bioethanol France said French ethanol consumption rose 6% in 2024 to 1.6 billion liters despite the fall in consumption of E85 which has grown steadily in recent years due to increased fuel efficiency of cars. The drop in E85 consumption was the first time since 2011. Most ethanol in France is made from sugarbeet and grain. The increased ethanol consumption was in line with overall increased fuel consumption. France together with Germany are the top ethanol consumers in Europe.
