In China, Fratelli Cosulich launched the Maya Cosulich on October 9 at Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard, the first methanol-powered chemical bunker tanker built to IMO II standards. Under a charter to TFG Marine, it will become the first methanol dual-fuel bunker tanker to operate in the Port of Singapore.
Designed by SeaTech Solutions International, the Maya Cosulich features diesel-electric propulsion, onboard battery storage, and two mass flow meters. “This vessel is not just a new addition to our fleet,” said Guido Cardullo, the company’s head of marine energy. “It’s a symbol of our vision for the future of bunkering.”
TFG Marine’s Kenneth Dam called the vessel’s delivery “excellent news,” saying it strengthens their ability to offer a “reliable and transparent” supply of marine fuels.
The project began in 2023 as a collaboration between Fratelli Cosulich, TFG Marine, and Singapore authorities. The Maya Cosulich is expected to enter service at the Port of Singapore by the end of 2025.
