Four new waste-to-energy plants to come up in India’s Andhra Pradesh state

December 28, 2025 |

In India, The Hindu reported that Andhra Pradesh’s power distribution companies (DISCOMs) signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with developers of four new waste-to-energy plants, marking a major step towards converting municipal waste into power across the State.

At present, power is being generated from waste at two plants—in Visakhapatnam and Guntur. With the new MoUs, four additional plants will come up at Nellore (Donthali, 12 MW), Kakinada (Rameswaram, 15 MW), Kadapa (Kolumulapalli, 15 MW) and Kurnool (Garveyapuram, 15 MW). Jindal will set up the plants at Kakinada and Nellore, while Antony Lara Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd. will develop the facilities at Kadapa and Kurnool, according to the report.
