In Florida, WUFT reports UF/IFAS North Florida Research and Education Center is continuing to work on carinata research as a way to increase options for non-edible biofuel feedstocks. The crop is best suited for growing over the winter months in Georgia, Florida and Alabama on land that usually grows corn, cotton, peanut or soybean. The seed is about 40% oil and can yield about 108 gallons of oil per acre plus high protein animal feed.
