In Texas, Offshore Energy reports the Beaumont New Ammonia facility in southeast Texas has produced its first ammonia following systems testing, marking the start of commissioning for the 1.1 million ton per year plant. The facility, owned by OCI Global, is scheduled to be handed over to Woodside Energy in early 2026, with commercial production expected to begin shortly after.
The plant is designed to meet rising global demand for both conventional and lower-carbon ammonia. Woodside confirmed it has secured agreements with major international buyers for deliveries of conventional ammonia starting in 2026, with further contracts in development to align with future production of lower-carbon volumes.
BNA is expected to significantly expand U.S. ammonia export capacity, potentially doubling current volumes once fully operational. Additional work is ongoing to verify systems, test performance, and prepare for full commercial handover.
The milestone follows joint commissioning efforts by Woodside and OCI Global. Woodside Vice President Kellyanne Lochan said the successful testing confirms production readiness and reflects consistent progress by both teams. The plant will support ammonia supply for energy, industrial, and hydrogen-adjacent sectors, positioning it as a major U.S. hub as global interest in ammonia-based fuels and feedstocks continues to expand.
