In India, BioEnergyTimes reported that Finnish airline Finnair has launched a new service under its Finnair for Business program that enables corporate customers to support the use of SAF and reduce emissions from business travel.
The service allows companies to track the emissions from their flights and contribute to the purchase of SAF through a co-funding model. The emission reductions are verified by a third party, and customers receive an audited SAF certificate that can be used in sustainability reporting, according to the report.
The reductions are allocated using a book-and-claim model, which means companies can claim the benefits of SAF even if the fuel is not physically used on their own flights, it added.
Tuomo Karppinen, Finnair’s Head of Environment, said the initiative is part of a broader effort to make flying more sustainable. “Real progress requires cooperation across the system – from policymakers and energy producers to airlines and customers. With this new service, we want to speed up the adoption of alternative aviation fuels made from renewable materials.”
