EU opens €184.5M hydrogen call to power green transition

January 15, 2025 |

In Belgium, The Clean Hydrogen Partnership launched its €184.5 million call for proposals on January 15, 2025, targeting cutting-edge hydrogen technology projects across Europe. With funding priorities ranging from renewable hydrogen production to storage, transport, and large-scale Hydrogen Valleys, the call supports the EU’s REPowerEU Plan and broader decarbonization goals.

“This call reflects our commitment to doubling Hydrogen Valleys and advancing hydrogen innovation across Europe,” the partnership stated. Of the total, €80 million is allocated exclusively for Hydrogen Valleys, funding “at least one large-scale Hydrogen Valley and one small-scale Hydrogen Valley.” The call also features €17 million for transport, which includes maritime applications.

Submissions will open on January 30 via the EU Funding and Tender portal, with a deadline of April 23. Guidance on the process will be provided during the Info Day on January 22 in Brussels. The partnership emphasized synergies with other programs, noting, “Synergies with other European partnerships and programmes, as well as with Member States and regional programmes are at the core of a number of topics.”
