Ethanol production in Mato Grosso to grow 10% in the 2024/25 harvest, as corn surges as Brazilian feedstock

December 8, 2024 |

In Brazil, Canal Rural reported that the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) predicts a 10.03% increase in total ethanol production in 2024/2025, with corn accounting for the bulk of this volume.

The high productivity of corn in Mato Grosso is considered the main reason for the boost in ethanol production in the state, which has been recording successive records in recent harvests, such as in the 2022/23 season, where more than 52 million tons of the cereal were harvested, and 2023/24, considered the second largest despite adverse weather conditions and reduction in area, in which around 43 million tons were produced, representing 38% of national production.

According to data from Imea and Bioind-MT (Bioenergy Industries of Mato Grosso), corn milling for ethanol production also reached a new level, with a growth of 37.86% compared to the previous year, according to the report.
