In India, the Financial Express newspaper reports grain-based ethanol production capacity is now far outweighing demand after the Oil Marketing Companies floated a tender for just 10.5 billion liters when 17.7 billion liters had been offered, of which just 4.7 billion liters came from sugarcane-based feedstock and the rest from grains. Grain-based ethanol producers are calling for a cap on further production installation as well as a 27% blending rate with gasoline like in Brazil.
