In Singapore, Manifold Times reports in early May, Equatorial Marine Fuel Management Services supplied a B24 bio-blended low sulfur marine gas oil to an Orient Overseas Container Line vessel in Singapore, marking its first such delivery of the year and one of the few of its kind globally. The fuel, based on used cooking oil methyl ester, was delivered by the Singapore-flagged EM Nikita with an electronic bunker delivery note (eBDN).
“Bio-blended LSMGO is significantly rarer in the market than bio-blended VLSFO due to limited production capacity, stricter blending requirements, and limited downstream demand,” said So Kah Meng, Sustainable Energy Manager at Equatorial. He noted that Equatorial secured supply through “advanced procurement planning and leveraging trusted ISCC-certified upstream partners.”
The operation involved ISCC EU-certified components and required extensive coordination with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, classification societies, and supply chain partners. Temperature control and tank pre-treatment were needed due to the fuel’s lower viscosity and pour point.
“This milestone represents not just Equatorial’s first B24 LSMGO delivery, but also a significant step forward for sustainable marine fuel adoption in Singapore,” said Chief Operating Officer Choong Sheen Mao.
