In The Netherlands, Offshore Energy reported Eastern Pacific Shipping and SulNOx, a UK-based tech provider, signed a deal to cut fuel consumption and emissions on at least 30 vessels over 18 months, following an eight-month trial across EPS-managed container ships, tankers, bulk carriers, and gas carriers.
EPS reported up to 5% fuel savings using SulNOxECO with heavy sulfur fuel oil and B30 biofuel during the trial, alongside cleaner engines and reduced emissions. As part of the agreement, EPS also invested in SulNOx, becoming a strategic shareholder.
“This partnership with SulNOx is a significant step towards achieving EPS’s long-term sustainability objectives,” said EPS CEO Cyril Ducau. “By enhancing our operational efficiency and reinforcing our commitment to meeting global environmental standards, this collaboration further solidifies our position as a proactive leader in sustainable shipping practices.”
SulNOx Chairman Radu Florescu highlighted the industry’s need for solutions amid growing regulations, saying, “Signing the marquee shipping name of EPS after an extensive evaluation period proves the effectiveness of SulNOx products beyond doubt… This transaction marks a new and transformative era for the SulNOx Group.”
EPS continues to leverage technologies, including AI, to improve fleet performance and drive decarbonization.
