In France, EODev received the first-ever Type Approval Certificate from Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore for its REXH2® hydrogen fuel cell system, a maritime power solution delivering 70 kW per unit, scalable up to 1 MW. Built on Toyota’s PEM fuel cell technology, the system is designed for maritime applications with flexible integration options.
“The Type Approval Certificate represents a significant step toward making hydrogen a cornerstone of maritime decarbonization,” said Yann Darmaillac, Technical Director at EODev. “It validates the reliability and safety of the REXH2® system while opening new opportunities for its deployment across a broader range of vessel types.”
PROMETEO, a 24-meter hydrogen-powered passenger ship, will be the first vessel to use the certified system and will be equipped with two REXH2® units. Developed by French shipbuilder Green Navy and capable of carrying 200 passengers, PROMETEO is scheduled to launch in spring 2025 and will operate in Brittany.
