In Spain, Enerkem and Technip Energies have signed a formal collaboration agreement to advance the Ecoplanta waste‑to‑methanol project in El Morell, near Tarragona. The facility will gasify up to 400,000 t/y of municipal solid waste into 240,000 t/y of sustainable methanol and downstream chemicals. Final investment decision (FID) was approved in July 2024, and the plant is expected online by 2029. The partnership focuses on technology licensing, FEED engineering, and modular deployment for large‑scale decarbonisation in Europe. — Source: Enerkem Newsroom press release (enerkem.com) enerkem.com+2Wikipedia+2
