Eneos inks SAF supply deal with American Airlines

In the UK, SAF Investor reported that Japanese energy giant Eneos Corporation announced that it has signed a sustainable aviation fuel agreement with American Airlines for the sale and purchase of the fuel in Japan. The report noted that this will be American Airlines’ first SAF procurement within Japan and will be used by the airline for flights from Haneda to New York. The company has been in partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation to jointly carry out front end engineering design (FEED) to advance the study of SAF production facility at the former’s Wakayama plant in Arida city of Japan. The facility, subject to the result of the FEED, is expected to produce approximately 300,000 tons of SAF per year from fiscal year 2028 onwards, together with bio-naphtha and bio-diesel fuel fractions as byproducts.
