In Egypt, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the Egyptian government’s commitment to supporting the Green Hydrogen Production Project, which is being implemented by Norway’s Scatec in partnership with the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, Orascom Construction and Fertiglobe in the Ain Sokhna Industrial Zone.
Egypt Green Hydrogen began partial production in 2023, when it successfully produced renewable ammonia at Fertiglobe’s facilities in Egypt using hydrogen from the project’s pilot electrolyzer. That ISCC PLUS–certified renewable ammonia shipment was delivered to Unilever for the production of near-zero-emissions synthetic soda ash in India.
The consortium expects to reach Final Investment Decision (FID) on the full-scale project in the coming months.
