In Egypt, the local government noted that Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the government’s commitment to supporting the Green Hydrogen Production Project, which is being implemented by Norway’s Scatec in partnership with the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, Orascom Construction and Fertiglobe in the Ain Sokhna Industrial Zone.

He said that the project began partial production, and that a broader launch will take place in the coming period, significantly contributing to the export of green hydrogen to Europe, in addition to several other international markets, according to the report.

Madbouli also referred to agreements signed for the establishment of another major solar power plant in Minya governorate, known as “Energy Valley”, to be implemented by Scatec with investments amounting to $1.8 billion.

He asserted that the European Union and European financial institutions have demonstrated a genuine willingness to support renewable energy and green hydrogen projects in Egypt, noting that the green hydrogen project under discussion enjoys broad European support.
