In Colombia, Infobae reported that Colombia’s Civil Aeronautics and Ecopetrol signed a Memorandum of Understanding that gives life to the SAF Vuela program , a joint strategy that seeks to position Colombia as a regional leader in the production and use of SAF
This inter-institutional agreement includes mechanisms for technical cooperation, regulatory coordination, and capacity building, essential pillars for achieving the ambitious national goal of producing 450 million gallons of SAF by 2050.
The roadmap for the development of this biofuel, established as one of the components of the 2022–2026 National Development Plan, sets out a series of phased objectives. The first is to achieve the production of 100 million gallons by 2035.
Ecopetrol President Ricardo Roa Barragán, said: “The ‘SAF Vuela’ program represents a fundamental advance in the sustainable aviation fuels roadmap, a project Ecopetrol has been working on with commitment. As a company, we look forward to continuing to drive the country’s energy transition in a sustainable and responsible manner.”
