In Hong Kong, EcoCeres announced the signing of a multi-year agreement to supply British Airways with sustainable aviation fuel.
This partnership is expected to help the UK’s carrier reduce lifecycle carbon emissions of approximately 400,000 metric tons, compared with use of the same volume of conventional jet fuel.
As part of its sustainability roadmap, British Airways has committed to powering 10% of its flights with SAF by 2030. EcoCeres will provide SAF produced from 100% waste-based biomass feedstock, such as used cooking oil (UCO).
Carrie Harris, Director of Sustainability at British Airways, added, “At British Airways, we see sustainable aviation fuel as an important part of our BA Better World strategy. In 2024 alone, SAF accounted for 2.7% of British Airways’ total fuel use and is contributing to our achievement of a 13% reduction in our carbon intensity since 2019.”
