In the UAE, Oil & Gas Middle East reports Emaar Hospitality Group and Lootah Biofuels have begun supplying Sustainable Bio Yacht Fuel at Dubai Marina Yacht Club and Creek Marina Yacht Club, introducing one of the first commercial marine biofuel offerings for leisure craft in the Gulf region. The fuel is made from used cooking oil collected from Emaar’s hotels, residences, and integrated developments, and processed into marine-grade biodiesel by Lootah Biofuels.
The rollout includes dedicated refuelling points at both marinas, giving yacht owners direct access to a lower-carbon alternative to conventional marine fuel. The project supports the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goals and builds on Emaar’s existing environmental programs, which include Fish Friendly and Clean Marina certifications and atmospheric water generation systems.
Lootah Biofuels will manage collection, processing, and supply of the fuel. The phased introduction is designed to monitor fuel quality and ensure consistent logistics before full-scale deployment. The initiative provides a localized emissions-reduction option for the marine leisure sector using waste oil from within the UAE.
Emaar stated the biofuel offering is part of a broader effort to implement practical, site-based sustainability solutions across its marina portfolio. Both companies have signaled interest in expanding the program based on early operational results.
