In Brazil, Noticias Agricolas reported that the first planting intentions survey made by local consultancy DATAGRO for 2025/26 indicates that Brazil is expected to expand its soybean cultivation area for the 19th consecutive year.
The projected area to be planted is 49.1 million hectares, a 2% increase over the 48.1 million hectares of 2024/25. Considering relatively favorable weather conditions, albeit with some localized instability, and maintaining the technological level, DATAGRO estimates an average national yield of 3,722 kg/ha. If confirmed, this yield would exceed the current crop’s record of 3,614 kg by 3%. As a result, we have a production potential of 182.9 million tons of soybeans, 5% more than the 173.5 million tons of soybeans from this year’s harvest, according to the report.
Soybean is expected to advance primarily into degraded pastureland, the report added.
