Czech ministries present biomethane action plan with 2030 goals

In the Czech Republic, the Ministry of the Environment, together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture, presented an Action Plan for the Development of Biomethane in the Czech Republic by 2030. The document establishes a specific framework for the development of domestic production of biomethane and its wider use in energy and transport. The aim is to strengthen energy security, reduce dependence on imports of fossil fuels and contribute to the fulfilment of the climate obligations of the Czech Republic.

The plan builds on the National Energy-Climate Plan (NEKP) and envisages a gradual increase in biomethane production, especially the transformation of approximately half of biogas plants into biomethane. It supports their transformation and facilitation of connecting to the gas network.
