In Bulgaria, SeeNews reported that Croatian oil and gas company INA said that it has competed a pilot project at its Rijeka refinery to produce sustainable aviation fuel for the first time.

“As part of its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and align with European renewable energy regulations, INA has successfully completed a pilot project to process biogenic feedstock at the hydrocracking unit of the Rijeka Refinery,” INA said.

In addition to SAF, the refinery also produced renewable diesel. The project, in cooperation with Chevron Lummus Global, tested co-processing 5% palm oil mill effluent with fossil feedstocks.
