In India, MoneyControl reports that officials within the government are concerned about the volume of corn being diverted to ethanol production as the push to achieve higher blends continues. Corn consumption for ethanol production is increasing at such a rate that the country is at risk of becoming a corn net importer rather than exporter. Corn diversion for ethanol hit 7.5 million metric tons in 2024/25 while it is estimated consumption will surpass 12 million tons in 2025/26.
