Conab sees Brazilian corn-based ethanol production jumping 22% in 2024/25

December 25, 2024 |

In Brazil, Forbes reports ethanol production in the 2024/25 harvest should add up to 36.1 billion liters, including the fuel produced from sugarcane and corn, the National Supply Company (Conab) estimated an increase of 1.3% from last season.

This growth will be due to the jump in the growth of corn ethanol manufacturing, since the sugarcane crop will be lower than expected, due to the hot and dry weather previously, Conab said.

The country’s corn ethanol production is expected to add 7.2 billion liters, compared to 6.9 billion in the August forecast, and is now estimated to advance 22.1% compared to last season. The advance of corn ethanol happens with new projects and expansions coming into operation, which should be repeated in the coming years.
