In Colombia, Portafolio reported that the director of the country’s Civil Aeronautics, Sergio Paris, presented a significant advance in Colombia’s efforts to produce a more sustainable fuel for aviation. During his speech, at the annual congress of the Colombian Chamber of Infrastructure (CCI), Paris addressed the progress in the implementation of SAF. According to Paris, he recently received information from Ecopetrol about the results obtained in the co-processing for the production of this fuel at the Cartagena refinery. “I received the first information from Ecopetrol about the result of the co-processing and the difference in the barrels produced here at the Cartagena refinery was very positive. In other words, Colombia is now one step ahead,” the official said. “What we have to do now is ensure how we make that production continuous. There are some airlines that are interested in starting to acquire that product now because we are aware of the global obligation that we have to fulfill as a country and as a sector in decarbonization ,” said Paris.
