In Chile, BNamericas reported that Colombia has opened a competitive tender for pilot projects to test low-emission hydrogen technology in transport, industry and power generation as part of efforts to guide future regulation and investment.
The bidding process seeks proposals from companies, research groups and other organizations to trial hydrogen applications under real operating conditions across multiple sectors, according to the report.
“The exercise has a clear objective: to turn innovation into evidence, test solutions under real-world conditions and generate technical inputs to guide regulatory, public policy and expansion decisions for this energy source,” the mines and energy ministry said in a statement.
The call will remain open for 20 calendar days and focuses on six areas, including hydrogen use in public and freight transport, household applications, industrial processes, electricity generation and production and storage infrastructure, the report added.
