In India, BioEnergy Times reported that Chiyoda Corporation has secured a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract to develop sustainable aviation fuel production facilities at Taiyo Oil’s Okinawa operations.
Under the project, Taiyo Oil plans to produce 200,000 kiloliters of SAF and renewable diesel each year using ethanol-to-jet technology. The initiative supports the Japanese government’s FY2030 SAF supply target, which aims to replace at least 5% of jet fuel emissions based on FY2019 levels, according to the report.
The SAF project has been selected for funding under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s program to promote the transition toward a decarbonized, growth-oriented economic structure, the report added.
