In India, Global Agriculture reported that China has successfully harvested about 75% of its summer wheat crop. covering a total of 260 million mu or approximately 17.3 million hectares, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
Summer wheat is typically sown in the autumn or winter of the previous year—or early spring—and harvested during the summer. It forms the backbone of the country’s summer grain production, accounting for over 90% of the category, according to the report. In total, summer grains contribute about 21% to China’s annual grain output, the report added.
The province of Jiangsu has nearly completed its harvest. Other provinces are also advancing: Shaanxi has harvested over 80% of its wheat, Shanxi over 60%, Shandong nearly 60%, and Hebei more than 25%, the report added.
