In Ukraine, UkrAgroConsult reported that China is expecting a bumper grain harvest this year, the country’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said.
According to the ministry, the summer harvest totaled 149.74 million tons.
The summer harvest forms the backbone of China’s annual grain production; planting area has been expanded, and yields are above average, according to the report.
Technological advances were a key factor in the grain harvest growth, contributing 63.2% to the yield. New varieties of corn, soybeans, and rice developed by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences have significantly increased grain yields, it added.
