In China, The Paper reports on April 15, Shanghai East China Shipbuilding handed over the CMA CGM SEINE, the world’s largest dual-fuel container ship, to France’s CMA CGM Group—a 24,000 TEU-class vessel powered by liquefied natural gas and capable of sailing nearly 20,000 nautical miles on a single fill.
Delivered at the Changxing Island Shipbuilding Base, the Seine is the first of its kind built by Shanghai East China Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of CSSC, and marks the latest in a series of LNG-powered ships for CMA CGM. The vessel is scheduled to begin service on the Far East–Europe route starting April 18.
The Seine is the 17th container vessel built for CMA CGM by Shanghai East China, and the 12th powered by dual-fuel. Three more large vessels are expected to be delivered to the French carrier by the end of the year.
