Cepsa supplys 2G biofuel to NYK Line hybrid barge

October 22, 2024 |

In Spain, Diario de Sevilla reports Cepsa has supplied second-generation biofuels to the Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) in the Bay of Algeciras using its hybridbarge, Bahía Levante, to minimise the carbon impact of the operation.

To supply 1,030 tons of 2G biofuel produced by Cepsa to the Atlas Leader, a 199-metre-long vehicle carrier, the barge has used 100% renewable diesel (HVO) during its navigation at sea and electric batteries in its operations in the bay. In this way, Cepsa aims to consolidate its position as a benchmark in the energy transition and a leader in the supply of energy for maritime transport.
