In China, China Classification Society awarded Approval in Principle certificates for two innovative dual-fuel vessels—the Honghu ammonia-fueled container ship and the Haijing methanol-fueled bulk carrier—developed by CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company in Shanghai. These ship types were showcased at a launch event attended by over 200 representatives from 84 organizations, including shipowners, leasing firms, and equipment manufacturers.
The Honghu container ship, part of the Honghu SWAN series, boasts a 10% reduction in daily fuel consumption compared to similar models, enhancing its energy efficiency. Meanwhile, the Haijing bulk carrier meets advanced regulatory standards and incorporates flexible energy-saving technologies, such as wind-assisted propulsion and gas layer drag reduction.
CCS’s Deputy General Manager, Zhou Liwei, presented the AIPs, signaling CCS’s endorsement of green fuel technology in compliance with evolving emissions standards. Both ships exemplify CSSC Huangpu Wenchong’s commitment to sustainable design, positioning these models as competitive options in the global push for low-emission shipping solutions
