In Maine, Castlerock Biofuels LLC, operating locally through its subsidiary EME Biofuels, LLC, has announced the selection of Millinocket, Maine as the site for its new sustainable biocrude production facility, leveraging the advanced thermal processing (RTP) technology developed by Ensyn Corporation and its affiliated companies. The plant, to be built on a greenfield site within One North, the former Great Northern paper mill location, will utilize renewable logging residue from local Maine forestry operations to produce up to 20 million gallons of Fast Pyrolysis Bio-Oil annually. The product, branded RFO for renewable heating purposes, will be available to large institutional heating customers in the US Northeast. All necessary project permits are in process, with the remaining financing expected to close in 2025. The facility is expected to be operational by 2027.
