Carrefour seals waste-to-energy PPA with French Suez

In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that French food retailer Carrefour has agreed to procure almost 700 GWh of renewable power for its stores under a long-term offtake deal with domestic utility Suez,

The power purchase agreement (PPA) is for electricity generated by Suez’s waste-to-energy plants in France using municipal, industrial and household waste. The contract has a term of 15 years and will start running from 2026, enabling the wholesale group to cover almost 25% of its total electricity consumption in France with renewable energy, according to the report.

The PPA backs the retail chain’s goal of using 100% renewable electricity by 2030
