In Canada, the Leader Post newspaper reports that Cargill’s canola crush plant under construction near Regina is delayed but the company assures it’s due to typical building issues, the weather and materials. Other planned large canola crushing projects in the region like Viterra and Federated Cooperatives Ltd. have been halted, as geopolitical issues such as China’s 100% tariff on canola oil imports that came in last August. But Cargill says it is committed to supporting Canadian agriculture so has no plans to pull out of the crush plant.
