Cargill Bioenergia to build corn ethanol plant along side Goias sugarcane plant

August 18, 2025 |

In Brazil, Terra reports Cargill Bioenergia will build a unit producing corn ethanol attached to its sugar cane plant in Cachoeira Dourada (GO), the company’s press office said on Friday. The business model will be the same as the company has in Quirinópolis (GO), where the biofuels division of Cargill in Brazil already produces ethanol from sugarcane and corn.

The news of Cargill’s project in Dourada Waterfall was published before on the specialized portal AgFeed. The company confirmed the information, but did not disclose details of the project immediately. The multinational’s move in Brazil comes after Cargill announced in February an agreement to buy a 50% stake in SJC Bioenergia, which gave him control of all the agro-industrial units in Quirinópolis and Dourada Waterfall. In April, the president of the Brazilian unit of the agribusiness multinational company, Paulo Sousa, told Reuters that the search for efficiency is one of the motivations for Cargill to expand its exposure in Brazil to biofuels.
