Buenos Aires Grain Exchange says 21% of the Argentine soybean area is in poor to average condition

In Argentina, Bichos de Campo reported that a report by the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange stated that 21% of the overall area planted with the crop is in poor to fair condition due to water restrictions.

“This situation is especially critical in the south of the core zone, where the greatest decrease in water conditions has been recorded. The second crop plants are in vegetative stages under water deficit in both cores, where losses in the plant stands have been recorded, which would affect the yield potential,” the Exchange said.

The report also noted that corn sowing for commercial grain is progressing, with some 300,000 hectares remaining to be sown in the north of the Argentine agricultural area. To date, sowing covers 95% of the 6.6 million hectares projected for this campaign, according to the report.
