In Argentina, Puntal reported that soybean production in Argentina will reach 48.8 million this crop season, according to a report by the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange. The new estimate is one million less than the previous report.
“As mentioned in previous reports, high temperatures and prolonged water shortages have generated thermo-hydric stress for soybean crops, primarily affecting the NEA region, and to a lesser extent the NOA region and the North Central region of Córdoba. These adverse conditions have significantly impacted plant growth and the growth of reproductive structures, decreasing production potential by 22%,” the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange explained in its report.
Rainfall recorded between late February and early March in the central agricultural region has had a favorable impact on both first- and second-season soybeans. “This situation has exceeded our initial yield projection for the central region; while it has not offset the decline in the northern agricultural area, it has prevented a further decline in production. Given this context, our production projection has been reduced,” the stock exchange report stated.
