In Brazil, Globo Rural reported that Brazil is expected to harvest a record soybean crop in 2024/25, valued at 172.4 million tons, according to an estimate by Agroconsult.
If confirmed, the volume will represent a growth of 10.9% compared to the result of 2023/24.
According to the consultancy, the start of the current season was marked by good weather conditions in most of the country, despite the delay in the start of planting. With a record planting of 47.5 million hectares – an increase of 1.5% compared to the previous cycle – the outlook is for record production, according to the report.
“Delays in planting crops do not mean an impact in terms of productivity. On the contrary. Later planting creates a better climate window,” highlighted André Debastiani, coordinator of the Harvest Rally, a field expedition promoted by Agroconsult.
For Rio Grande do Sul region, Agroconsult forecasts a 0.2% drop in soybean production in 2024/25, to 49.5 million tons. For Mato Grosso do Sul, the forecast is a harvest of 56.5 million tons, an increase of 13% compared to 2023/24.
