Brazil’s ANP denies request to suspend B14 for 90 days

In Brazil, the INFRA news agency reports board of directors of the ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels) unanimously denied a request of Sindicom (National Union of Companies Distributors of Fuels and Lubricants) for the suspension of the mixture of 14% of biodiesel from diesel oil (B14) for 90 days.

The request, forwarded to the agency on March 12, was based on the union’s assessment of increased irregularities, such as the sale without the mandatory percentage of mixing.

The rapporteur, director Fernando Moura, said: “Although irregularities in the sector exist, which we do not deny, the sensitivity of the agents is intensified leading them to perceive irregularities as more frequent than they really are.” Director Daniel Maia stressed that “infections happen, but they are far from being systemic and broad and at the level as high as presented.”
