Brazil could harvest more than 180 million tons of soybeans in 25/26, consultancy says

September 7, 2025 |

In Brazil, Noticias Agricolas reported that Brazilian soybean production in 2025/26, with planting expected to begin this month, could reach a record 180.92 million tons, a 5.3% increase over the previous season, counting on a recovery in production in Rio Grande do Sul, according to data from local consultancy Safras & Mercado.

The forecast indicates an increase in the projection compared to the previous number (179.88 million tons), released in July by the consultancy.

“The revisions were small and, of course, only planting and harvesting will actually confirm the planted area and productivity,” said Safras & Mercado analyst Rafael Silveira, noting that the data is preliminary.

The consultancy indicated a 1.2% increase in the planted area compared to last season, to 48.21 million hectares.

Safras & Mercado highlighted that the expansion of the area is expected to be more modest compared to previous years, due to higher costs and financing difficulties that may limit the use of technology in crops.
