In Canada, Agencia Brasil reports Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Niágara, Canada, on the sidelines of the G7 meeting. Mauro Vieira reported that Brazil forwarded, on November 4, a proposal to negotiate with the United States, after a virtual meeting between the technical teams of the two countries. The ministers agreed to set up a new face-to-face meeting soon to discuss the current stage of the talks and seek understanding on the tariff measures.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met on October 26 with U.S. President Donald Trump in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting lasted about 50 minutes and took place during the 47th Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean). During the meeting, Lula said there was no reason to disagree with the United States and called on Trump to immediately suspend the tariff against Brazilian exports, while the two countries are in negotiation.

In July of this year, Trump announced a 50% tariff on all Brazilian products that are exported to the United States. Then ministers of the Brazilian government and the Supreme Federal Court (STF) were also targeted by the repeal of travel visas and other sanctions by the U.S. administration.
